Senior Project Control Engineer
6 Month Contract

Central Manchester based: circa twice per week

A highly skilled Senior Project Control Engineer is required to join a dynamic team within the Transport industry for a 6 month enagegement. This role is crucial in coordinating and leading Project Control services across multiple programmes and projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.



Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Set-Up & Schedule Development

  • Manage complex project data and establish structures for budget control.

  • Support Project Managers in developing schedules, critical path analysis, and resource planning.

  • Maintain time-phased budget baselines and ensure best practices compliance.

2. Earned Value & Performance Monitoring

  • Implement and oversee Earned Value Management (EVM) across projects.

  • Ensure consistency and quality assurance in reporting, cost evaluations, and forecasting.

  • Prepare high-level technical reports and revised cost estimates.

3. Cost Control & Procurement

  • Assess cost estimates and contractor schedules.

  • Oversee purchase orders, financial commitments, and direct cost allocation.

  • Work with Procurement to establish processes and review tender schedules.

4. Risk, Issue & Change Management

  • Develop schedule risk analysis models and support risk workshops.

  • Evaluate project changes and implement approved modifications in MIS systems.

  • Ensure adherence to change management and contractual requirements.

5. Process Improvement & Team Management

  • Contribute to best practice procedures and process improvements.

  • Monitor and enhance project delivery team effectiveness.

  • Manage and mentor project control engineers and consultants.



    Key Requirements:



    Essential Experience:

    • Proven experience in Project Controls, managing multiple projects and programmes.

    • Expertise in change control processes covering schedule and cost.

    • Proficiency in Primavera and other project planning software.

    • Experience supporting projects under an NEC contract framework.

    • Strong understanding of project risk management and stakeholder engagement.

    • Demonstrated people management skills with coaching experience.



    Desirable Experience:

    • Experience in both client and private sector organisations.

    • Knowledge of multi-project resource planning and agile project management.

    • Familiarity with public transport and infrastructure projects.
