Design Engineer (Water & Wastewater)

Employment type: Permanent, full-time

Location: Remote (You will however be expected to travel to the office in Barnsley twice per month)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 p.a + 26 days holiday (+ Bank Holidays)

This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-growing engineering design consultancy.

The Design Engineer will design and develop water and wastewater treatment systems, including the selection and sizing of equipment, calculations, and hydraulic modelling.

Example of Responsibilities:

  • Perform engineering evaluations and feasibility studies for water and wastewater projects, analysing data to identify potential challenges and areas for improvement.
  • Develop comprehensive engineering designs, detailed drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Work closely with clients, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders to ensure adherence to environmental regulations and compliance with permitting requirements.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in water and wastewater engineering through ongoing research and engagement.
  • Offer technical support and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, promoting a collaborative and growth-focused environment.

Essential Skills/Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent
  • Extensive experience in water and wastewater engineering, with a focus on the design and construction of treatment systems, pipelines, and related infrastructure.
  • Advanced proficiency in engineering software, including AutoCAD, hydraulic modelling programs, and data analysis tools.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes applicable to water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work to timescales.
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK.
