This is a fantastic opportunity for a Sustainability and Carbon team leader who is a highly capable Sustainability and Carbon specialist with extensive experience in embedding sustainability into large scale infrastructure projects and corporate strategies who can hit the ground running while providing team/line management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading on carbon, sustainability, and net zero for the existing portfolio of major infrastructure projects and strategic clients.
  • Leading the development of innovative carbon and sustainability strategies, designs, solutions, and management plans.
  • Project manage and coordinate sustainability inputs on major infrastructure projects.
  • When required, represent the company at external networks and continue to build their personal, team and company reputation.
  • Lead and support bid proposals, helping to author our submissions and ensuring win themes are retained throughout.
  • Lead the Manchester/Northern team of sustainability and carbon specialists, providing line management duties and supporting team development.

Requirements for the Principal Sustainability & Energy Consultant :

  • The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in an environmental / engineering related discipline and will be chartered with a recognised relevant professional body.
  • Prior experience and up to date knowledge in some of the following is required: carbon accounting, decarbonisation/net zero roadmaps, sustainability assessments, whole life carbon, sustainability reporting, sustainability strategy, supply chain engagement.
  • Have strong report writing, communication and presentation skills which can be tailored to a range of audiences, seniorities and technical competencies.
  • Understand UK sustainability and carbon guidance and standards used within infrastructure and in corporate reporting, across both the public and private sector.
