Job Opportunity: Distribution Supervisor
Salary: £38,500 per annum

Are you an experienced logistics professional looking to take the next step in your career? We are seeking a Distribution Supervisor to join our team. This role offers a competitive salary and the opportunity to work within a well-established distribution network.

About the Role

Based at our designated depot, you will report directly to the Distribution Manager or Assistant Distribution Manager. You may also be required to work at other local depots as necessary. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in ensuring the efficient and cost-effective distribution of milk and produce to depots and wholesale customers, while maintaining high standards of service and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Efficiency: Oversee the daily allocation of drivers and distribution employees, ensuring compliance with tachograph and working time regulations.

  • Customer Service: Monitor and improve delivery schedules, address customer complaints, and maintain high service levels.

  • Fleet Management: Maximise fleet utilisation while ensuring vehicles are serviced and maintained according to prescribed schedules.

  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all operations comply with road traffic regulations, health & safety laws, and company procedures.

  • Staff Supervision: Manage and support drivers and yard staff, ensuring adherence to company rules, procedures, and uniform requirements.

  • Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents and near misses, implementing measures to prevent reoccurrence.

  • Disciplinary Oversight: Handle first-stage disciplinary and grievance procedures as required.

What Were Looking For

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • A current LGV Class C driving licence and Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).

  • Proven supervisory experience, with knowledge of disciplinary and grievance procedures.

  • Strong product knowledge including coding and loading configurations.

  • Experience with manual and digital tachograph systems.

  • Knowledge of vehicle loading capacities, health & safety regulations, and manual handling.

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and planning skills.

  • A strong customer service focus and numerical ability.
