Our client is a well established property finance lender in Manchester. Due to growth they are now looking for a Senior Underwriter to join their team.

As a Senior Underwriter, you will make key decisions on funding requirements. You will be responsible for assessing and underwriting complex property finance cases as well as working as part of the wider Credit/Portfolio function to effectively manage all aspects of credit and portfolio risk.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with the BDM’s and the wider admin Team to ensure new and existing relationships with introducers are proactively maintained.

• Working with BDM’s on new deals to ensure that new enquiries are within appetite and meet credit policy.

• Assess and underwrite new loan applications.

• Conduct due diligence on borrowers.

• Conduct due diligence on properties.

• Ensure all data on back office loan processing systems are up-to-date.

• Liaise with and instruct Solicitors/Surveyors/Agents that meet potential borrowers.

• Liaise with and instruct Quantity Surveyors where applicable.

• Liaise with external Introducers.

• Keeping files in order & ensuring that files are complete before funding.

• Assist the Customer Services Team post completion, when required.

• Provide excellent communication links between borrowers and external providers.

• Follow and keep up to date with current regulatory requirements.

• Ensure documentation is collated and stored in line with Company policies.

• Work on additional projects for the business when required.

• Ensure that the business is performing efficiently, suggesting process improvements that will not detract from managing credit risk.

• Providing training to colleagues to ensure knowledge is shared.

• Working effectively to ensure company costs are minimised.

Skills/Experience:

• Worked as an Underwriter within Property Finance.

• Dealt with complex Property Finance deals.

• Excellent communication skills

• Ability to work alone and in a team.

• Strong analytical skills.

• Ability to work with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

• A high attention to detail.

• Good negotiating skills.

• Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

• Good technical knowledge

• Good investigative skills to review borrower backgrounds.
