Job Title:Finance Manager
Reporting to: Chief Financial Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an innovative R&D company within the biotech industry as a Finance Manager. This role is ideal for a resourceful and adaptable finance professional with experience in biotech or life sciences. This is a pivotal time to join the company as it progresses into the second phase of development.

Responsibilities:

Purchase Ledger
- Receive and save invoices for review and approval
- Code and post invoices onto accounting software
- Ensure timely payment of invoices
- Act as point of contact for suppliers and contractors for invoice/payment queries

Cash Management
- Manage funds in currency accounts to cover payments
- Optimize currency transfers and returns on deposits
- Provide cashflow statements illustrating cash utilization

Financials
- Prepare month-end financials for the board
- Produce quarterly finance packs for investors
- Review month-end results with project managers and CFO
- Update forecast models monthly with actual results
- Post journal entries for accounting adjustments
- Reconcile control accounts (accruals, prepayments, bank, VAT, etc.)

Other Ad-Hoc Tasks
- Coordinate with subsidiary accountant for cashflow and consolidated quarterly accounts
- Provide ad hoc financial reports for project reviews
- Prepare for year-end audit and act as the main contact for the audit process
- Complete quarterly VAT submissions

Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role, ideally within the biotech or life sciences industry. Proficiency with financial management software, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail are essential. Flexibility and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently are also key.
