Description

The Group Hed of Risk's responsibiliies include;

  • Risk Framework - Sets the ERM Framework to be used by the Group including all organisaions, functions. Ensures that the Framework is aligned to best practice and approved by Board.
  • Risk Oversight - Appropriate risk management and risk mitigation ensures they meets all legal, regulatory and compliance obligations and safeguards the business from the financial impacts of any non-compliance which can range to hundreds to millions of pounds. Responsible for setting a clear Enterprise Risk Management Framework / associated management reporting, to facilitate the process to govern Principal (15-20 risks), Corporate (c.120 risks) and Operational (1000+ risks) registers.
  • Senior Management Reporting - developing effective working relationships with, and regularly presenting to, over 40 SLT members (Directors and Heads of) plus ExCo at least quarterly.
  • Managing a Risk Team and Risk Stakeholders - oversees and sets out the expectations of 2 Risk Business Partners to ensure they have clear goals against which performance is monitored and fed back. Oversees the core activities and adherence to the ERM Framework for all of locally-based Risk Management specialists - c10-15+ people across all corporate functions, all 3 airports and .
  • Relationship Management - Proactively seeks to add value to the functions by developing strong relationships with senior leaders.
  • Risk Management Training - Delivering periodic risk management training sessions targeted appropriately at all levels of the organisation and for all levels of risk.

Profile

The successful Group Head of Risk should have;

  • Qualified Risk (IRM), Internal Audit (CIIA), or accountant (ACA, ACCA) with a minimum 6 years' PQE and at least 5 years' direct risk management / ERM experience - specifically, experience leading a team as a Head of Risk.
  • Proven track record of developing and delivering ERM Frameworks for complex organisations and sound technical knowledge of risk management and its application in a commercial and operational environments
  • Knowledge and experience of the use of data analytics in effective risk management and mitigation.
  • Experience of tendering for and implementing ERM Systems.
  • Experience of auditing controls and understanding of effective control mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent relationship management, presentation and communication skills, including at Board and Audit Committee level.
  • Influencing skills will also be key.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and instil credibility with colleagues at all levels up to SLT and ExCo.Ability to produce high quality, insightful reports and presentations.
  • A visible and approachable leader who consistently recognises people for their outputs, and implements effective delegation of authority and tasks in order work as an effective team that achieves and exceeds the departmental strategic objectives.
