Job Purpose:

The Senior Finance Business Partner will support the business by providing insightful financial analysis to inform business decisions and business planning. This role will work in collaboration with business leaders and colleagues in the allocated division in order to support the delivery of the HSB Groups profitable growth ambitions in the UK & Ireland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the business to identify opportunities to increase the information available and to obtain and present this according to stakeholder requirements.
  • Support the business by providing insightful financial analysis and commentary in relation to their allocated division, working closely with colleagues in the finance team and with business leaders across the UK&I.
  • Work in close collaboration with colleagues at the Companys US parent entity, HSB Group, to support the delivery of routine and ad-hoc financial information.
  • Contribute to the delivery of internal monthly financial commentaries and financial reporting to the divisional Board/Committees, HSB Board and US Parent Company.
  • Support the deliver of the annual financial planning process and regular financial re-forecasting.
  • Respond to ad-hoc queries and information requests as required.
  • Support the work to review existing processes and controls over financial planning and reporting and implement changes with the goal of improving procedures and enhancing automation to improve efficiency whilst ensuring effectiveness of controls.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the financial operational management pack (the Greenbook).

Key Skills & Experience:

Essential

  • Expertise in financial accounting, financial planning and financial reporting
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Good knowledge of UK, US and IFRS accounting standards
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Fluent using MS packages i.e. Excel

Desirable

  • Relevant financial services experience
  • Experience working in a similar role

  • Initiative: Innovative approach to problem solving, anticipating opportunities and the ability to question/challenge existing methods and approaches.

  • Mentoring: Supporting junior team members towards their achievements and qualifications where appropriate.
  • The ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both verbally and written.
  • Be confident in presenting and explaining information to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexibly and across locations, where deadlines require, within the Companys required operating hours.

Qualifications & Educational Requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
