A leading construction consultancy in Manchester is seeking an experienced Building Regulations Expert to join their growing team. This position is ideal for professionals with a background as an ex-Architect, Building Inspector, Building Control Surveyor, BSA Principal Designer, or CDM Principal Designer who is familiar with the new regulations.

The Building Regulations Expert Role

In this role, you will act as a technical authority, providing guidance on compliance with the latest Building Safety Act and Building Regulations. You'll collaborate with clients, design teams, and contractors to ensure projects meet statutory requirements and safety standards, while identifying opportunities to drive best practices in building compliance.

Key Building Regulations Expert Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice on Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act, and related compliance requirements.
  • Undertake plan reviews and design assessments to ensure regulatory adherence.
  • Attend client meetings and provide guidance on building compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct site inspections to assess compliance during construction.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other project stakeholders to resolve design and compliance issues.

The Building Regulations Expert

  • Professional experience as an Architect, Building Inspector, Building Control Surveyor, or Principal Designer.
  • In-depth knowledge of Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver within tight deadlines.
  • Professional membership with a relevant body (e.g., RICS, CABE, CIOB, APS) is highly desirable.
