We are recruiting on behalf of a global, design-led apparel manufacturer, serving leading brands and retailers our client is renowned for delivering innovative fashion solutions with a strong focus on compliance and sustainability.
They are currently seeking a talented Outerwear Designer to join their team, specialising in casual and formal jackets across ladieswear. This is an exciting opportunity to work with several of their major accounts-The ideal candidate will have a strong commercial portfolio, relevant supplier experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive trend research to identify emerging styles, shapes, and silhouettes that align with the brand's commercial objectives.
  • Design and develop trend-led, bestselling outerwear ranges in collaboration with overseas factories.
  • Travel to Bangladesh to oversee sampling processes and ensure product accuracy and quality.
  • Present collections confidently to buyers, demonstrating a strong understanding of both fashion trends and technical aspects.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including designers and technicians in their NW OF England office , with fortnightly travel required.
  • Upload and manage detailed tech packs on the PLM system, ensuring accurate communication with factories.
  • Source and develop new fabrics, trims, and innovative design solutions.
  • Manage multiple projects efficiently, meeting tight deadlines in a high-volume design and development environment.

Key Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience in designing outerwear, with a focus on both casual and formal jackets.
  • Strong background in ladieswear, with some experience in menswear and the flexibility to adapt across categories.
  • Previous experience working with high-volume UK retailers within a supplier environment.
  • Excellent understanding of garment costing, construction, and technical requirements.
  • Ability to work with factories in Bangladesh and China, ensuring smooth sampling and production processes.
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to present to key stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and PLM systems.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
