About the Role

This company is looking to build a new Software Engineering Team, with this hire being one of the first into the team, so is a truly unique opportunity to help create the foundations of a new engineering team.

It’ll report to the Head of Development, based from their modern, open-plan office just off Manchester Victoria. The offices have truly impressive views over Manchester, offering excellent local amenities. This company offers season-ticket loans to cover the upfront cost of annual train tickets.

The company’s technology is built mostly on Microsoft, meaning we are looking for a .NET stack Developer with strong C# .NET 6+ & SQL Server skills. The company is also after skills that include TDD (NUnit), Git, RESTful API Development and/or GraphQL API.

Day-to-day tasks:

  • Build, maintain and optimise scalable and secure customer-facing applications using C# .NET 6+
  • As one of the first Developers in this new team, work with the Head of Development to set coding standards, establish best practices and mentor Junior Developers as the team grows.
  • Develop, document and maintain highly robust RESTful APIs to support application integration and communication with other products
  • Design and implement relational databases using SQL Server, including writing efficient queries, stored procedures and schema design
  • Write clean, efficient and testable code with a focus on TDD principles using NUnit
  • Work closely with Front-End Developers, Product Owners, Graphic Designers and QA’s to deliver high-quality features on-time
  • Stay ahead of emerging technologies and industry trends, bringing new ideas to the team and fostering a culture of innovation.

What are we looking for?

  • 4-5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer
  • Expertise in SOLID Principles & TDD
  • Degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering
  • Enjoys a collaborative culture in an office environment
  • Confidence as a early-hire into a new Software Engineering team
  • Strong communicator, friendly personality and ability to 'get the job done’
