Role:Senior Failure Analysis Engineer (metallurgy)Location:-ManchesterSalary :-Competitive Salary Russell Taylor Group have two fantastic opportunities for a Senior Failure Investigation and Principal/Team Leader Engineer to join our client's Global Third-Party organisation. This role is very hands on and will involve a mixture of technical consultancy and failure investigation work for a multitude of industries. The role is predominately based in Manchester but will involve site visits to customers in the UK and overseas. Responsibilities • Analyse and interpret metallurgical, microscopic, and analytical information for a wide range of industries- examples could be oil & gas, energy & heavy engineering. The products being analysed could be small broken pieces of steel to non-metallic products (rubber, plastics, ceramics).• Identifying why and how things have failed.• Undertake project management responsibility for a wide range of failure investigation projects. • Prepare estimates and proposals for negotiations with client companies and suppliers.• Develop project plans and determine the priorities of the plan and supervise project staff.• Hands on preparation and examination of sample and components submitted to the Failure analysis lab using various metallurgical and microscopy methods. • Prepare client reports off the data collated and answer any client queries on the reports. • Manage project budgets, time allocation and financials of the projects, resolving any issues if they arise. • Present technical presentations to conferences, seminars and forums.• Actively seek to generate business for the Failure Investigations team. The Person• Educated to higher degree level- ideally MSc/PhD ideal within Material Science/Engineering • Ideally have previous industrial experience within Failure Analysis within a scientific or engineering industry.• Demonstrable ability to develop new opportunities and willingness to chase new business for the division. • Previous experience of supervising staff.• Previous experience of interacting with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders. • Excellent communication skills and ability to present technical information at conferences and forums. • Ability to develop client relationships • Strong organisational and time management skills.• Willing to be hands on working at all levels.• A positive attitude.• Good problem identification and solving skills.• Highly proficient in computer programs such as MS Office. • Flexible approach to working hours.
