Specification Sales Manager - Sustainable Construction

Location: Northern England

Our client, a growing sustainable construction company, is seeking a skilled Specification
Sales Manager to drive sales of their natural, low-carbon building materials. If you're passionate
about making a positive environmental impact and have a proven track record in technical sales
within the construction industry, this could be the ideal role for you.

Position Overview
As the Specification Sales Manager, you will play a crucial role in growing and converting
the company's existing sales pipeline. Your primary goal will be to maximise the capacity of their
new production line, increasing revenue and profitability. This position offers the opportunity to
make a significant impact on the adoption of sustainable building practices in the UK construction
industry.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and secure specifications with architects, housing associations, and local authorities
  • Identify and secure enquiries from specialist insulation distributors
  • Generate new leads with end users, contractors, and sustainable house builders
  • Travel for face-to-face meetings with clients and prospects
  • Develop a deep understanding of competitor products at a technical level
  • Deliver exceptional customer experience throughout the sales process
  • Ensure accurate and timely sales documentation
  • Design and deliver CPD sessions to educate clients on sustainable building materials
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create effective content for campaigns

Requirements

  • Proven experience in technical specification sales within the construction industry
  • Established relationships with building surveyors, architects, local authorities, housing associations, refurbishment surveyors, and facilities managers
  • Demonstrable success in selling via specification to all stages of the buying cycle
  • Excellent understanding of insulation technical performance
  • Experience managing merchant/distributor relationships
  • Confidence in discussing product installations with architects and contractors
  • Network of potential customers and distributors in the construction industry
  • Architectural background or hands-on construction experience (preferred)
  • Understanding of certification bodies and processes in the construction industry (beneficial)
