We are seeking a Team Leader for Traffic & Road Safety to join our Highways Service team within the Neighbourhood Directorate. This role is crucial for managing and developing strategic and operational plans in Traffic and Road Safety, ensuring effective leadership and fostering strong partnerships across various sectors.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Management: Lead the Traffic & Road Safety team, ensuring effective management and development of strategic and operational plans.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for traffic and road safety, addressing current issues and anticipating future needs.
  • Performance Management: Oversee the development of processes and tools for accident reporting and performance tracking to meet stakeholder needs.
  • Technical Advisory: Serve as the technical point of reference for traffic and transport issues, contributing to city-wide strategies and plans.
  • Partnership Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external partners, including Education, Planning, and Neighbourhood Services, to align efforts and achieve the council’s objectives.
  • Community Engagement: Engage with communities to promote behavioural changes and implement physical improvements for safety and efficiency.
  • Project Oversight: Manage various functions within the Highways - Traffic sector, ensuring effective distribution of workload and resource allocation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience: Significant experience in a Highways environment, providing strategic and technical advice on traffic and road safety.
  • Education: Must hold HNC/HND in Engineering or a related field.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and manage teams, with strong skills in planning and performance management.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong capability to analyse data and develop strategic solutions.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly and influencing stakeholders.
  • Innovation: Creative thinking skills to foresee potential future scenarios and devise innovative solutions.
