Our client, a distinguished consultancy in the rail sector, is currently seeking a Technical Director - Rail to join their team in Manchester.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical design and delivery of multiple concurrent projects
  • Undertaking the role of Rail Discipline Manager or Rail Discipline Director
  • Day-to-day management, direction, and training of staff
  • Acting as a role model for others in the company
  • Developing relationships with new and existing clients and identifying potential work
  • Preparing fee budgets, proposals, and resource requirements for projects
  • Co-ordinating with other engineers across regional offices and technical groups
  • Managing the preparation of calculations, drawings, and other documents
  • Managing and liaising with clients on proposals and project work
  • Specifying and/or managing site examination and investigation works safely and effectively
  • Identifying and managing risks to acceptable levels


Job Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in multidisciplinary rail technical design delivery
  • In-depth knowledge of Network Rail standards
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong team leadership abilities
  • Commitment to developing the technical skills of junior staff


Desirable Skills:

  • Experience leading contractor frameworks in the rail sector
  • Broad relationships with key Network Rail stakeholders


Qualifications:

  • Chartered Engineer with ICE or CIHT
  • Extensive experience, ideally between 15-20 years, in the rail sector
