Senior Design Engineer (Fire Sprinklers)

Are you an experienced Design Engineer with a solid track record in developing fire sprinkler systems for commercial, residential and/or industrial projects Are you analytical, methodical and looking for an opportunity to join a highly successful and expanding engineering firm to progress your career If so, we’d love to hear from you.

On behalf of our client based in Manchester, we’re recruiting for a Senior Design Engineer to undertake all design-related activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards, providing technical guidance and working closely with project managers and installation teams to ensure the efficient completion of projects.

You’ll be joining a small but established design team in an ambitious company that has delivered significant growth over the past 5 years and has a pipeline of projects to fulfil. You’ll need to be organised and self-managed, able to hit the ground running and keen to contribute to the company’s plans for continued growth.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Creating and reviewing fire sprinkler system designs, ensuring compliance with BSEN12845 & BS9251:2021 standards, local building codes, and client specifications.
  • Working with sales and project teams to develop and review proposals, ensuring accurate, cost-effective and feasible estimates.
  • Serving as a key point of contact for design-related queries from clients, contractors and internal teams, providing technical oversight and guidance on complex design challenges.
  • Working closely with project managers and installation teams to ensure delivery milestones are met and proper installation of designed systems.
  • Ensuring that all designs are thoroughly checked for compliance with BS standards, building codes, and insurance requirements, including conducting site visits where necessary.
  • Maintaining design records and as-built documentation, ensuring that all design documentation is properly maintained and updated throughout.

Suitable candidates will need to demonstrate:

  • Ideally 3 years+ experience in fire sprinkler design in a similar role within residential and / or commercial projects
  • Robust working knowledge and expertise in fire sprinkler regulations and industry standards
  • Relevant qualifications such as LPCB Basic Design Qualification as minimum – Intermediate & FHC preferable. Residential Design Qualification.
  • High level of competency in design software such as AutoCAD or Revit
  • Excellent organisational, prioritisation and workload management skills
  • Initiative, accountability and ability to handle a busy workload.
  • First-class communication and team-working skills.

In return, the company offers a starting salary of £50-60,000 plus annual company performance bonus and comprehensive benefits package. Hours of work are Monday-Friday 9.00am-5.00pm based from the office in Manchester with flexibility as required. Training and development available with excellent career prospects.
