Health and Safety Advisor Opportunity

Your Role: Regional HSE Adviser (North)

Providing professional HSE guidance and support to the Regional Delivery business in the North of England and Scotland, this role is all about promoting excellence, continuous improvement and providing pragmatic, practical advice and guidance to Operations. It involves getting out and about, meeting people, problem solving and attention to detail.

As a Regional HSE Adviser at Global, You will:

  • Supporting the maintenance and improvement of Outdoor’s H&S, Environmental and Quality management systems.
  • Support the Approved Contractor and Supplier process through HSE performance assessment, inspection and auditing.
  • Develop good working relationships with Franchise HSE professionals and the Business Partnership team.
  • Maintain a good understanding of H&S legislation and provide practical guidance and support to the business as appropriate.
  • Understand the health and safety requirements of Global’s franchise partners and ensure that internal documentation, procedures and practices comply with them.
  • Supporting the development of the Regional Ops. Safety Improvement Plan with appropriate objectives and/or improvement opportunities agreed and assigned to the responsible department/individual and monitoring those actions are carried out within the timescale.
  • Provide, support and direction to ensure that Outdoor meets the requirements of the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Standards, SafeContractor, Network Rail (or equivalent) and RISQS accreditations.
  • To provide HSE support and guidance for Project/Construction work, reviewing appropriate documentation (WPP/CPP/RAMS), and providing onsite support and advice as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Key responsibility (25%): Provide professional HSE support and advice, supported by the Head of HSEQ and working closely with the Regional Operations Management and Projects teams, to support their improvement of HSE performance
  • Key responsibility (25%): Accident and incident investigation and support where necessary
  • Key responsibility (50%): Provide support and direction to ensure that Outdoor meets the requirements of the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Standards, SafeContractor, Network Rail (or equivalent) and RISQS accreditations

What Success Looks Like

In your first few months, you’ll have:

  • Visited each Region to meet the Heads of Regional Delivery managers and members of their team.
  • Become familiar with the Manchester and Glasgow warehouses.
  • Conducted several site visits and site safety inspections at various locations and of different activities.
  • Developed an understanding of our HSEQ management systems and standards.
  • Learned a lot more about the interesting diversity of activities within the Outdoor business.
  • Been introduced to key stakeholders including franchise partner H&S representatives and our main operational delivery contractors.
