Health And Safety Manager

Manchester - Hybrid

An award-winning Manchester based construction firm are looking to hire an articulate and detail-oriented professional to join their team in the role of Health And Safety Manager.

The role will cover a wide range of disciplines, and supported by a well-structured & experienced team you will be responsible for;

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage information systems to ensure building safety and maintain accurate records.
  • Provide guidance and ensure compliance with safety regulations, including fire, legionella, asbestos, electrical, and gas standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections as part of a structured program.
  • Identify building hazards and implement necessary corrective actions.
  • Communicate effectively with residents about building safety.
  • Foster a culture of health, safety, and well-being within the organization.
  • Coordinate and evaluate disaster recovery drills.
  • Ensure proper reporting of accidents, incidents, and near misses.
  • Perform root cause analysis for incidents.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and suppliers.
  • Advise employees and senior management on health, safety, and environmental issues.
  • Organize site safety and environmental audits and ensure implementation of corrective measures.
  • Assist in investigating incidents and accidents.
  • Assess the environmental impact of operations and recommend improvements.
  • Proactively seek enhancements in health, safety, and environmental performance.
  • Support initiatives to boost health, safety, and environmental standards in projects and offices.
  • Maintain regular communication with project teams and office managers regarding SHE matters.

Requirements

  • Experience in the UK Construction and Property sectors.
  • Expertise in High-Risk Buildings (HRBs) in the UK Construction Industry.
  • Strong understanding of the Building Safety Act 2022.
  • Passionate about health and safety improvement with a proactive, results-driven mindset.
  • Excellent communicator with a pragmatic, positive attitude.
  • Self-motivated with strong accountability and result-oriented approach.
  • Proficient in data logging, numerical analysis, and IT.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues.
  • Experienced in conducting compliance inspections and audits.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to offices and buildings within the portfolio.
  • Full clean UK driving license.
  • Ability to conduct thorough building inspections and audits.
  • Willingness to travel to Newcastle and other cities as needed.
  • Membership in a relevant organization (IOSH / IIRSM).
  • Relevant CSCS Card.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • NEBOSH Health & Safety Certification.
  • Relevant Fire Safety qualification accredited by IFE or IFSM, or equivalent.
