Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join the Qualiteach team and make a positive impact on the lives of students facing Social, Emotional, and Mental Health challenges. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing support to students both inside and outside the classroom, creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Individualised Support: Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with SEMH needs, implementing strategies to address their unique challenges.
  2. Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to create tailored support plans and monitor student progress.
  3. Behaviour Management: Implement effective behaviour management strategies, promoting positive behaviour and addressing challenges with empathy and understanding.
  4. Classroom Assistance: Support the classroom teacher in delivering lessons, adapting materials, and providing additional assistance to students with SEMH needs.
  5. Emotional Well-being: Foster a positive and supportive emotional environment, promoting mental health and well-being among students.
  6. Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with parents, carers, and other stakeholders to ensure a collaborative approach to supporting each student.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs is desirable but not essential. You will be considered if you have other relevant, transferable skills.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH challenges and effective strategies for support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A willingness and enthusiasm for supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs with a warm smile on your face!
