Are you a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Are you Team-Teach trained and ready to make a positive impact in a supportive, nurturing environment? If so, we want to hear from you!
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team at a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Failsworth, Oldham. As an SEMH TA, you will work closely with students who face a variety of challenges, helping them develop emotional resilience, achieve academic success, and engage in positive behaviors.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group support for students with SEMH needs.
  • Implement strategies to support emotional and social development.
  • Use Team-Teach techniques to manage challenging behavior and ensure a safe learning environment.
  • Work alongside teachers and other professionals to deliver tailored interventions and support plans.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, helping them build confidence and self-esteem.
  • Monitor and track progress, providing feedback to staff and parents.


Essential Requirements:

  • Team-Teach qualification (or a commitment to undertake training).
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, ideally within a PRU or similar setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, resilience, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
