The role will be key to supporting the business with its exciting growth plans.

What you will be doing (HR Manager):

This is a standalone role in which you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all HR functions across the group which includes three business units with circa 130 employees. You will have the ability to work independently with minimal support, ensuring the efficient implementation of HR policies, practices, and initiatives. Your role will encompass a broad range of HR activities, including employee relations, talent management, performance management, policy development, and compliance with employment law.

The role has a wide scope in which you will be able to shape / drive the function forward - this includes leading and participating on various HR projects / initiatives such as employee engagement surveys, and organisational change.

Responsibilities (HR Manager):

  • HR Operations: You will be managing the day-to-day HR operations / processes of the business. You will work closely with senior managers to understand the businesses goals / objectives and translate these into HR priorities (this includes monitoring HR metrics / KPIs to identify improvements).
  • DE&I: To lead and coordinate DE&I initiatives across the organisation, supporting the leaders to ensure an environment of fairness, inclusion and equality is achieved
  • Employee Relations: You will lead and manage all ER issues and act as the primary point of contact (including managing all complex employee relations cases, including grievances, disciplinaries, and performance issues).
  • Learning and Development: A key area of focus will be to develop the leadership and coaching abilities of the current management teams whilst implementing a performance management development structure. You will also be tasked with implementing a performance review process that improves individual and team performance whilst addressing any underperformance.
  • Performance Management: You will manage and drive the performance appraisal process, providing guidance and support to both managers and employees. We’d like the successful individual to implement a regular performance review and ensure we are consistent in our evaluation practices (this includes reviewing / implementing where necessary any performance improvement plans for underperforming employees).
  • Talent Management: You will support the Talent Acquisition Manager with the recruitment process including conducting interviews where appropriate. As part of this you’ll oversee the onboarding process to ensure new hires are effectively integrated into the business. Included in the Talent Management piece you’ll develop and implement retention strategies to attract and retain top talent (whilst identifying any skills gaps to address these needs).
  • Policy Development: As the business grows and evolves you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and reviewing all HR policies ensuring they are up-to date and in line with best practice (this will then include providing training and guidance to managers / employers). You will seek to ensure there is consistent application of the HR policies across the business.
  • People metrics and Reporting: You will prepare and present HR metrics / reports to the Managing Director and Board of Directors providing insights and recommendations for improvement through analysing trends / areas for improvement.

Essential Experience / Qualifications / Skills:

  • Agile operator, HR professional who is able to adapt quickly to change and drive through effective implementation of plans
  • CIPD qualified (Level 7 or working towards) and evidence of continuous professional development
  • Proven experience in a similar HR managerial role, preferably within a group or multi-site organisation with 80+ employees.
  • Strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management with the ability to articulate cross-functionally
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing current and future people challenges including hybrid working performance management.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering a robust performance management structure for a medium sized agile business.
  • Fully conversant and up to date with all aspects of employment law and HR best practices
