About the Company:Axon Moore are delighted to be working with a large eCommerce business to recruit a Payroll Manager to lead a section of their Payroll team on a permanent basis in South Manchester, where you will manage a team of around 4-5 payroll staff. You will be responsible for running multiple payrolls across the UK and overseas, each with varying size and pay frequencies. About the Role:We are looking for a confident Payroll Manager with experience in a fast-paced, change-led environment. Reporting to the Head of Payroll, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day payroll operations, monthly, weekly and bi-weekly payroll matters while leading and engaging with the team. This role will require strong attention to detail and excel skills in order to ensure complete accuracy when compiling payroll information.Salary and Benefits:Salary £45-50k DOE, 25 days holiday plus banks and your birthday, enhanced Maternity and Paternity scheme, inhouse and 24/7 medical assistance, on-site gym, staff discounts on their brands, subsidised cafes and canteen on site. Free parking, pension schemes, plus many more benefits available on request!What we are looking for you to do / key responsibilities:
  • Ensure the timely processing of multiple payrolls, including salary, benefits, taxes and other deductions.
  • Responsible for the preparation and verification of payroll date to ensure accurate and timely payment for all members.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of updates, such as new starters, terminations and any changes to pay and benefits.
  • Motivate the team, setting objectives and prioritising the workload. Ensure they follow proper procedures and processes, and encourage best practice and improvements where possible.
  • Ensure appropriate communication between external stakeholders, such as HMRC, pensions providers.
  • Ensure timely year end statutory returns to HMRC.
  • Help and be involved with payroll projects and the continuous development of the payroll/HR database.
  • Stay up to date with current HMRC legislation.
  • Recruit and develop a high performing team.
  • Provide cover to the team during annual leave.
  • Other ad-hoc, payroll related work as requested.
Professional qualification and competencies
  • 2+ years’ experience of managing within a high volume, payroll environment.
  • CIPP qualification would be beneficial.
  • Experience with ADP would be beneficial.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Adaptable and reactive to change within a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work with all levels of management deal effectively with team members.
  • Have excellent organization skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with stakeholders, management, and team members.
  • Experience with running payroll processes for other European countries would be benefits.
