Alexander Steele has partnered with a leading global food manufacturer that has an exciting opportunity for a Regional Operational Technology Consultant to lead and implement the control and automation systems infrastructure strategy for their UK factories, providing central support and project development resource for factory automation systems as required.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide Operational Technology support and project delivery across assigned factories in the UK.
  • Liaise with supply chain, site engineering, projects, and manufacturing teams to proactively manage the Operational Technology environment, with particular focus on obsolescence, security, new installations, hardware and software standards, plus driving of new solutions to deliver supply chain improvements.
  • Work with maintenance technicians and project teams at manufacturing sites to assist, coach and train as appropriate, the skills needed to support the factory automation infrastructure.
  • Be the subject matter expert in Operational Technology areas to factory Maintenance Technicians, Production Operators and Supervisors, maintaining their cooperation with agreed business processes, plus maintain a high level of compliance to overall IT and Operational Technology processes and standards.
  • Work with the factory projects teams, to manage installations so that new systems are installed to statutory regulations and group standards.

Candidate Requirements

  • Engineering qualification in relevant discipline such as Control & Automation, Mechatronics, Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent.
  • 18th Edition and other relevant Operational Technology certifications will be advantageous.
  • Good technical knowledge and experience of controls and automation systems, primarily Siemens PLCs, WinCC SCADA, Iconics Genesis SCADA, Rockwell Logix platform, systems integration, IT hardware and software.
  • Control & Automation Management experience in a FMCG, Pharmaceutical, Chemicals or similar manufacturing environment.
