Operations Engineer

Permanent/Full Time/Manchester based (Hybrid Working - 2 days per week in the office)

A market leader in data consultancy for the media and market research sectors is looking for a talented Operations Engineer to join its Operations Team.

This role involves supporting data capture systems used in customer projects as well as internal IT infrastructure. You'll be responsible for maintaining, improving and scaling cloud-based and on-premise systems, ensuring smooth performance and efficiency.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Managing and maintaining Linux-based servers and services
  • Deploying and scaling data capture and IT systems
  • Handling support requests from customers and staff
  • Monitoring system performance and responding to alerts
  • Automating processes using tools such as Puppet and Terraform
  • Collaborating with engineering, testing and UX teams

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience with Linux (CentOS or Alma preferred)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
  • Ability to follow established processes and best practices
  • Good communication skills for internal and external support

Desirable Skills:

  • Python or other scripting languages
  • Experience managing servers at scale
  • Knowledge of AWS Cloudwatch, PagerDuty or other monitoring tools
  • Familiarity with Puppet, Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools
  • Windows desktop management and InTune MDM experience
