Assembly Supervisor

- Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Mon - Fri
We are seeking a dedicated Supervisor for our clients Assembly department, responsible for leading the team to achieve manufacturing targets within the specified standards and health and safety policies. This role requires a proactive individual who can effectively manage production control, resources, and team engagement to ensure optimal performance and cost-efficiency.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Lead the Assembly team to meet manufacturing targets, coordinating production control and performance data.
- Plan and control the production of components/assemblies, allocating staff and equipment resources to meet demand.
- Attend daily and weekly manufacturing meetings, inputting and progressing issues.
- Conduct daily/weekly section team briefings to foster team engagement and feedback.
- Manage line-side stores, material picking, packaging, and labelling requirements, liaising with Interiors stores for materials planning.
- Advise on the development and production of new and repair components, ensuring adherence to quality procedures and systems.
- Utilise the company ERP system proficiently and manage Return to Work/counselling interviews.
- Carry out team appraisals and, in conjunction with the Manufacturing Unit Manager, implement training and development plans for all manufacturing staff.
- Monitor staff output performance against targets, reviewing skills and competencies, and addressing any deficiencies.
- Coordinate new employee inductions with HR, providing them with necessary tools and training.
- Maintain the section to a safe standard in line with Lean Manufacturing/5S standards and ensure compliance with health & safety policies.
- Undertake internal and external training and ensure team members are aware of and understand risk assessments and safety checks.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven skills in managing people within a Workshop/Assembly environment.
- Experience in using a variety of engineering equipment and interpreting engineering drawings.
- High proficiency in the use of the company ERP system.
- Experience using hand and power tools with a high degree of attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexibly, adapt to changing shift patterns, and carry out overtime as needed.
- Excellent team worker with strong interpersonal skills to liaise with other departments.
- Willingness to occasionally travel as required for the position.
