Due to continued growth and a strong order book, we are looking to recruit for a  Mechanical Fitter to join a global manufacturer based in NW Manchester. 

The successful candidates will be required to read engineering drawings to assemble and test valves and associated products. Due to the complexity of the role, all training will be on the job in stages to ensure you are competently trained in the role including works on presses, testing and assembly processes.

Interested candidates must be Time Served with demonstrable experience working within a manufacturing assembly based environment. Experience in assembly of Pumps/ Valves /Gearboxes would be highly advantageous. 

Hours - Monday - Friday 7AM-3PM

All OT Paid at premium rates 

Package also includes a 9% matched pension + private health

The Role

  • Carrying out assembly of products in line with standard operating procedures and relevant standards.
  • Carrying out testing of products to specified product methods and in line with standards and procedures and health and safety requirements.
  • Liaising with supervisors on quality issues arising from manufacturing.
  • Ensuring that all tools/machines used are fit for purpose and reporting any problems to Supervision immediately.
  • Recommending and carrying out any improvements in line with the company’s continuous improvement program.
  • Working at all time within Health and Safety guidelines, including the correct use of PPE.
  • Keeping accurate and up to date production records.
  • Showing flexibility and working in other parts of the production areas as required.

Qualifications/ Skills

  • Time served within an mechanical engineering capacity 
  • Attention to detail and pride in quality of work
  • Demonstrable experience in assembly - Valve /Pump/Gearbox assembly is highly desirable
