We are a well-established Commercial Insurance Broker in the Manchester area and we are currently looking for an experienced and commercially minded Underwriting Advisor to join our growing, enthusiastic, and highly successful team. This is an exciting time to join our business as we continue to build upon the success of nearly 30 years within the industry.

Joining us now, you will play a major part in supporting our vision for achieving sustainable growth whilst building a solid succession plan ensuring we remain independent. This is for the benefit of both the individuals who work here and the clients who will continue to receive a very personal approach.

Duties:

  • We are looking for someone who has the drive to want to succeed and sees this opportunity to join a forward-thinking insurance brokerage to further their insurance career. You must be keen to service clients, develop long-term relationships, review risks and underwrite them accordingly based on the guidelines and terms and conditions of our DUA.
  • You will be responsible for New Business, MTAs and Renewals on our SME Binder (PI/EL/PL) with premiums ranging from £150-£10,000.
  • You will work alongside our existing Affinity, Underwriting and Broking Department and you will be supported in your role of dealing with new business enquiries and retaining existing clients.
  • Your role will mean you need to gain a sound understand of the DUA, the appetite of our capacity providers and have good working relationships with them when needing to refer cases in for sign-off. You will be required to have a good understanding, and to keep on top of any changes to the appetite, policy cover and wordings.
  • Ensure all business activity fully complies with FCA regulation and company procedures as detailed in the Conduct Polices and Guides to Best Practice.

Ideal candidate:

  • Knowledgeable and experienced underwriter specialising in Professional Indemnity, as well as having exposure to other Financial Lines products. 3+ Years PI/Financial Lines experience. Candidates can come from either an Underwriting or Broking background.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with wide range of people, both internally and externally.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Achieve and maintain a high level of customer service and promote exceptional customer care standards at all times.
  • Develop and maintain a professional working relationship with all clients and provide expert product advice and guidance.
  • Acturis experience preferable.
