OVERVIEW

We're working alongside a well-established insurance company to fill a key New Business underwriting position in their growing team. We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior New Business professional. In this key role, you will be responsible for managing the branch's profitability and income, taking full ownership of the financial performance for assigned accounts and brokers. You will play a pivotal role in influencing the Underwriting team, enhancing collaboration with various stakeholders, and strengthening the branch's technical and trading capabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Represent the company as a key figure in presenting solutions for larger Mid-Market and Mid-Corporate risks, leveraging industry expertise and technical underwriting knowledge. 
  • Collaborate with Trading Underwriters to negotiate coverage, wordings, and pricing that set the company apart while addressing customer needs. 
  • Actively build a strong pipeline of qualified Mid-Market and Mid-Corporate growth opportunities by utilising both client and broker relationships. 
  • Lead and embed the large case management process for securing new business. 
  • Foster and strengthen collaborative relationships with brokers across the region, taking full responsibility for sourcing and placing profitable commercial business. 
  • Underwrite new, profitable business in line with established controls and practices, serving as a referral point for New Business and occasionally renewals within the branch.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Good understanding of the insurance market and commercial lines operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong technical underwriting skills in commercial insurance.
  • Proven ability to make decisions on technical underwriting in a commercial setting.
  • Experience in coaching, team collaboration, and achieving results.
  • Strong commercial awareness, negotiation skills, and broker relationship building.
  • Practical decision-maker with strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Experience in account monitoring and action planning.
  • Excellent risk assessment and management abilities.
