Storekeeper

Manchester City Council is seeking two Storekeepers to support the operation of a high-quality warehousing facility. This role is crucial in managing various aspects of the Community Equipment Warehouse, including storage, decontamination, recycling, and deliveries. The position requires a commitment to maintaining a safe, efficient, and customer-focused service environment.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Support all operational aspects of the Community Equipment Warehouse, including storage, decontamination, recycling, and deliveries.
  • Maintain accurate records of assets within the warehouse, monitor stock levels, and replenish stock through appropriate channels as necessary.
  • Effectively decontaminate and recycle returned equipment.
  • Provide frontline support to the transport contractor, including the loading and unloading of transport vehicles.
  • Maintain a safe, tidy working environment, ensuring that items are stored and labeled as per the manufacturer's instructions and that Health & Safety legislation is complied with.
  • Provide a high-quality customer-focused service that responds positively and effectively to all customers.
  • Ensure deadlines and targets set for the service are met.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to continuous self-development and service improvement.
  • Promote diversity and ensure it is positively valued, resulting in equal access and treatment in employment, service delivery, and communications.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Must be physically fit and healthy, as the role requires lifting heavy items and being on your feet most of the day.
  • Experience in warehousing or a similar role is preferred.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to maintain detailed and accurate records.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Commitment to health and safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
