Trainee Import Clerk based in Trafford Park., ManchesterOffering: Up to £26,000 per annum dependant on experiencePermanent, full time contractAre you looking to kickstart your career in logistics and import operations? We are looking for a proactive and eager individual to join our Sea Imports team as a Trainee Import Clerk at our Head Office. This is a great opportunity for someone who is keen to learn, develop their skills, and be part of a dynamic team within the logistics industry.

As a Trainee Import Clerk, you will be responsible for the day-to-day processing of documents, costing, and billing activities for specific accounts. You will ensure compliance with both internal and client-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain high service standards and financial compliance. You will also collaborate with various departments to resolve queries and contribute to improving operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Department Manager to ensure accurate costing and timely payments to cash suppliers.
  • Resolve queries from customers, suppliers, and internal departments promptly.
  • Monitor operational performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Use Freight Management Systems and Microsoft Office for data handling and document management.
  • Ensure accurate shipment data entry and timely invoicing.
  • Maintain SOP documentation and communicate key data changes to stakeholders.
  • Review exception reports and resolve common data issues.
  • Assist with administrative duties and provide support during busy periods.
  • Demonstrate strong time management, multi-tasking, and organisational skills.
  • Adhere to company policies, including HR and health & safety regulations.

Who We're Looking For:

  • An enthusiastic individual with a strong willingness to learn.
  • Someone who can work well within a team, with a positive attitude towards problem-solving.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Prior experience in logistics or a similar environment is a plus but not essential.

Hours of Work:

  • Monday to Friday - no weekends included!
  • Our client offers 3 working patterns: 8:00am-4:00pm, 9:00am-5:00pm or 10:00am-6:00pm with a 45-minute lunch break.
  • Opportunity to work on a hybrid basis once they are up to speed with the role and have successfully passed their probation period.
