Graduate Town Planner - Manchester

Are you an ambitious graduate with a passion for town planning? A leading planning consultancy based in Manchester is seeking a Graduate Town Planner to join their dynamic team. About the Role As a Graduate Town Planner, you will provide vital planning support to consultants and directors, assisting in the preparation and management of planning applications, appeals, and appraisals. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, gaining hands-on experience in planning consultancy and contributing to the successful delivery of positive outcomes for clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide planning support to consultants and directors.

  • Maintain registers of applications and appeals.

  • Keep up to date with professional publications and industry developments.

  • Process new enquiries and allocate to consultants as required.

  • Produce clear, concise, and high-quality written work.

  • Conduct background research, identify key planning issues, and draft planning documents.

  • Manage a caseload of minor proposals under supervision.

  • Organise and prioritise workload effectively to meet deadlines.

  • Collaborate with colleagues, share ideas, and contribute to team activities.

  • Adapt to changing circumstances and remain open to new challenges.

  • Provide clients with a professional and friendly service.

  • Work towards full RTPI membership.

Person Specification

  • A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline.

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • A willingness to learn and develop professionally.

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
