Town Planner

A dynamic and forward-thinking planning consultancy is looking for a talented Town Planner to join their growing team in Altrincham. The Role

As a Planner, you will play a key role in delivering planning applications, strategy development, and client engagement. Working closely with senior colleagues, you will contribute to a variety of projects across residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. This role offers fantastic career development, with structured training and support towards RTPI accreditation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting site research and translating findings into clear written reports
  • Reviewing planning policy and history to inform project strategies
  • Preparing project updates and client communications with minimal supervision
  • Leading on minor planning applications, including liaising with design and technical teams
  • Monitoring applications and managing deadlines proactively
  • Preparing social media content and project materials for marketing purposes
  • Assisting with business development activities and professional networking

About You

  • A master's degree in Town Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • At least two years of planning experience within a consultancy or local authority
  • Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to provide well-structured advice
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with Adobe Creative Suite skills being an advantage
  • A proactive mindset, with a keen interest in professional development and networking
  • Associate membership of the RTPI, with a commitment to achieving full accreditation
