Our multi-office environmental consultancy client has an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing team with a 5-year business growth plan. The role will be in the landscape team which is formed of Landscape Architects and Arboriculturalists, reporting to the Associate Directors
This role has a wide remit across design and planning offering diversity and opportunity and is one that you can help shape. It can be based in Sheffield or Manchester
You will work with the landscape team and multi-disciplinary project teams on a variety of projects some of which will involve liaising with internal colleagues in other environmental disciplines as well as with other external environmental specialists and consultants.
You will have well rounded technical skills as a landscape architect, be able to work independently, have good commercial awareness and be proficient in managing complex landscape projects. You will understand commercial landscape practice including resourcing, fee proposals, project budgets, statutory compliance, programming and continuing professional development.
We would expect your key skills to include the ability to manage and oversee the delivery across our range of projects for various clients in different sectors including but not limited to leisure, residential, waste and minerals, land and property development, infrastructure development, energy and utilities and insurance companies. You will operate nationally and be able to take design projects from inception to completion, we would expect you to typically manage projects through RIBA and LI work stages (1-7).
Your responsibilities on a day-to-day basis will typically include acting in a senior role to undertake landscape masterplanning, concept design, environmental co-ordination, LVIA, technical tender and construction packages.
You will have a good working knowledge of the planning system including an understanding of the requirements for planning application packages through to discharge of planning conditions.
As an experienced Landscape Architect, we would anticipate you to be able to demonstrate the following as essential:
- Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute with demonstrable experience at a senior level (and ideally a minimum of 3 years post chartership experience).
- Proven ability to lead projects and client liaison acting as representative for the company.
- Project Management: ensuring project deliverables, deadlines and resource budgets are met. You would have responsibility for meeting client deadlines and expectations.
- Completing day to day project management records, timesheets, and project tracking sheets.
- Competent in undertaking LVIA and associated outputs.
- Technical report writing, advanced use of relevant software e.g., MS word, peer review of colleagues reporting.
- Sound technical detailing, planting design and knowledge of successful plant establishment.
- Good working knowledge of cad drawing packages such as AutoCAD, BricsCAD.
- Experience of consulting with statutory consultees, regulators and other external organisations in the course of project work.
- Ability to prioritise and manage own workload and to oversee others, including experience of managing one or more junior staff.
- Providing guidance and technical expertise to colleagues.
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety responsibilities relevant to our area of work e.g., Risk assessments [CDM]; preparation of RAMS, review RAMS of all grades.
- A balance of creativity and practicality in your approach, we are looking for someone who can combine the ability to develop big ideas with exceptional creative and sound technical execution.
- Prepare project bids and fee proposals.Â
Skills in the following areas would be an advantage:
- Production of visualisations and photomontages to recognised industry standards.
- Proficiency with GIS software, Vectorworks, Adobe Creative Suite, photoshop and Sketch Up.
