- Managing a caseload of public law childcare matters, including care proceedings, child protection issues, emergency protection orders, and special guardianship applications.
- Representing clients in court, conducting advocacy where appropriate.
- Advising clients with empathy and professionalism, ensuring their best interests are met.
- Liaising with local authorities, guardians, expert witnesses, and barristers.
- Supporting junior team members, including trainees and paralegals.
- Assisting with business development and helping to grow the firm’s childcare law offering.
- 2+ years’ PQE with experience in public childcare law.
- A strong understanding of public law proceedings, including care and supervision orders, adoption, and emergency protection orders.
- Advocacy experience is desirable but not essential.
- A commitment to client care, with the ability to handle sensitive and complex cases.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Willingness to work towards Children Panel Accreditation
