A long-established law firm with a strong reputation in civil liberties is seeking an experienced Civil Liberties Lawyer to join their team in either Manchester or Hull. This is an exceptional opportunity for a passionate legal professional with a commitment to defending civil rights and upholding justice to take on a challenging and impactful role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in civil actions, guiding cases from inception through to conclusion. This will involve managing a diverse caseload, conducting thorough legal research, drafting legal documents, and presenting cases in court.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act, the Human Rights Act, and other relevant legislation. Stay informed of current legal developments and ensure all actions comply with the latest laws and regulations.
  • Support and mentor more junior colleagues, providing guidance and assistance to help them develop their skills and knowledge in civil liberties law.

Ideal Candidate:

  • At least 3 years of experience working on litigative cases, ideally within the civil liberties field.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act, the Human Rights Act, and the Coronial process.
  • Experience with legal aid is preferred.
  • Strong advocacy, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage a demanding caseload.
