This is a leading, award-winning specialist firm in Court of Protection and Private Client services. Recognised for its expertise, it prides itself on delivering first-rate services to clients in this niche field. As the firm continues to grow, it is seeking two Fee Earners (Grade B/C COP rates) – either solicitors or legal executives – to join its expanding team.

This specialist firm supports clients in-house with additional services including HR, Property and Welfare Benefits. The team handles a wide variety of complex and high-value cases, making this an exciting opportunity for experienced professionals to grow.

Clients include:

  • Individuals who have lost capacity following birth injury, accident or illness (e.g., dementia), with damages from personal injury or clinical negligence claims
  • Those involved in high value contested cases with jurisdictional issues and financial abuse investigations

The Role:

You will manage a caseload of Property and Affairs files and assist senior team members with more complex cases. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing Property and Affairs files, supported by Case Workers and trainee solicitors/paralegals
  • Supervised by one of 3 specialist COP Directors
  • Assisting senior team members with complex Property and Affairs files
  • Providing daily advice on practical and legal issues, undertaking applications to the Court
  • Involvement in contested and high-value cases, including those with jurisdictional issues and financial abuse investigations
  • Frequent contact with clients, families and case management teams

Hybrid Working:

  • Initially 2-3 days in the office per week, reducing to 1-2 days as needed
  • Flexibility to work remotely for part of the week
  • Hybrid working arrangements are personalised to suit individual and team needs

Key Experience & Skills:

  • Professional Deputyship: Experience with high-value, complex matters
  • Court of Protection Applications: Experience managing cases and submitting applications
  • Contested COP Matters: Preparing instructions to counsel, court bundles and other documentation
  • Advice on LPAs & Lay Deputyship: Providing support to families on legal applications
  • Financial Abuse Investigations: Conducting investigations and providing legal advice
  • Knowledge of Welfare Issues & Care Funding: Familiarity with local authority/NHS funding and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
  • Experience: 2+ years in Court of Protection/Property and Affairs work (pre- or post-qualification)
