About the Role:

A leading law firm based in Liverpool is seeking an experienced Senior Employment Solicitor to join their highly regarded team, specialising in the healthcare sector. The successful candidate will have a strong background in employment law and a keen interest in the healthcare industry. This is an exciting opportunity for a solicitor with substantial experience in employment law to take on a senior role, supporting a diverse range of healthcare clients and contributing to the ongoing success and growth of the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advising healthcare sector clients on a wide range of employment law matters, including unfair dismissal, redundancy, discrimination, whistleblowing, TUPE, and employee contracts.
  • Representing healthcare clients in Employment Tribunal claims, including preparation for hearings, settlement negotiations, and advocacy where required.
  • Managing a mixed caseload of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters, with a focus on healthcare businesses, NHS trusts, and individual healthcare professionals.
  • Offering strategic employment law guidance to healthcare organisations, including advice on HR matters, regulatory compliance, workforce management, and employee policies.
  • Providing clear, practical, and commercial legal advice tailored to the healthcare sector, ensuring the highest standards of client care and service.
  • Assisting in business development activities, including building relationships with new and existing healthcare clients, attending industry events, and contributing to marketing initiatives.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior solicitors and trainees, supporting their development and assisting with their workload management.
  • Keeping up to date with developments in employment law, particularly those impacting the healthcare sector, and maintaining expertise in the field.
  • Contributing to the team’s strategy and growth, ensuring the firm remains competitive within the healthcare sector.

Requirements:

  • A qualified solicitor with a minimum of 6 years' PQE in employment law (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong technical knowledge of both contentious and non-contentious employment law, particularly within the healthcare sector.
  • Experience managing a varied caseload of employment law matters, including complex and high-value cases in the healthcare sector.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships in the healthcare industry.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience supervising or mentoring junior members of staff is advantageous.
  • A commercial approach with an interest in business development within the healthcare sector.
