Eventus Legal is seeking a Legal Counsel to join the In-House team of a leading, service-driven organisation based in their Manchester office. This is a permanent, full-time job with a focus on both contentious and non-contentious employment matters along with supporting the team in other commercial matters, IP, immigration and Compliance. Role ResponsibilitiesThe incoming Legal Counsel will be advising Senior Executives in the organisation with a focus on employment and commercial law. It’s a varied role where you will be dealing with complex, high value work alongside other general HR and commercial matters. The day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Dealing with contentious employment law matters
  • Supporting Managers across the group with HR and employment law matters
  • Conducting hearings including grievances, investigations and capability or disciplinary proceedings and appeals
  • Assisting with immigration and right to work queries
  • Preparing and submitting Home Office and overseas visa applications
  • Supporting General Counsel and Group Directors with employment litigation matters and dispute resolution
  • Dealing with issues arising from potential M&A such as TUPE and compliance
  • Proactively managing caseload ensuring all issues are dealt with in a timely manner

Person SpecificationWe are looking for a legal professional with substantial fee-earning experience in employment law. While formal qualifications are not required for this role, you must have demonstrable expertise advising clients on the respondent side of employment law.

Although this position will involve some commercial matters, prior experience in this area is advantageous but not essential, provided you are willing to learn.

The ideal candidate will be confident in managing a diverse workload within a fast-paced, dynamic environment and will possess the following attributes:

  • Experience in a fee-earning role related to employment law, either in-house or in private practice
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to manage deadlines and workloads effectively
  • Effective communication skills
  • A commercial mindset with a pragmatic approach
  • An eagerness to continually learn and adapt to new legal areas
  • A positive, team-oriented attitude coupled with a strong work ethic

Other desirable skills and experience include knowledge of intellectual property, immigration, data protection, and familiarity with risk and compliance.
