Public Sector Lawyer - Manchester North West
An opportunity has arisen to join the legal team of a prominent public body dedicated to driving growth and prosperity across the North of England. This is an opportunity to influence major projects and contribute to the region's success.
Salary: £55,000 - £62,000 per annum
Location: Manchester (Hybrid). Flexible location across the North of England, with regular presence required in the Manchester office.
About the Role:
The In-house legal counsel will provide legal counsel on a diverse portfolio, including governance, compliance, procurement, and commercial law. You will:
- Advise on public law, contracts, and information governance.
- Draft and review legal documents.
- Manage legal risk and ensure compliance.
- Contribute to policy development.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships.
- Deputise for the Monitoring Officer.
Candidate Profile:
We welcome applications from ambitious lawyers with 5+ years' PQE. You may have a background in:
- Private Practice: Experience in law firm with a strong public sector practice, specialising in local government, planning, construction, or commercial law.
- In-house: Proven experience in a local authority, government department, or large public sector organisation, ideally working closely with the Deputy Monitoring Officer.
Essential Skills:
- Understanding of UK public law and governance frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of contract law and procurement.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proactive and solution-oriented approach.
