The Role

A fantastic opportunity has now arisen in our Court of Protection department, which is recognised by the independently researched Legal 500 as tier 3 firm in Manchester, is looking to expand and is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic COP Solicitor, to join the team.

You will be based in our Court of Protection department, focusing on the safeguarding and support of vulnerable people. The team offers advice on various Court of Protection issues, with a particular emphasis on protecting and supporting vulnerable individuals. They assist their clients in managing their property and financial affairs.

The team deals with a substantial number of clients who have been appointed as deputies, providing help to individuals with acquired brain injuries, Dementia/Alzheimer's and other serious injuries in handling their financial matters.

The chosen candidate will collaborate closely with partners and the rest of the team to oversee a varied caseload.

  • Effectively handle mixed case load Mixed caseload which includes brain injury and elderly client matters
  • Supervise the management of client property and financial matters.
  • Provide support to both adult and child clients.
  • Foster and maintain enduring client relationships.
  • Dealing with the routine management of deputyship and personal injury trusts with appropriate supervision and guidance from senior team members
  • Liaising with clients, their families, case managers and other professionals and handling all matters with appropriate sensitivity
  • Working closely with the firm's Personal Injury and Medical Negligence solicitors on litigating cases
  • Assisting senior team members with complex cases
  • Drafting applications to the Court of Protection
  • Drafting annual Deputy Reports
  • Co-ordinating interim billing and the detailed assessment of our professional costs
  • Contribute to business development and marketing initiatives.

To be successful in applying for this role, you must possess excellent client care skills, you need to be technically strong with an eye for detail as the role heavily realises on data checking and inputting. You must have the ability to communicate effectively. You must also be reliable, organised, able to work in a busy environment, possess excellent time management and interpersonal skills.
