Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Head of Year to join our team on a temporary basis, with the potential for the role to become permanent. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing all pastoral matters and supporting positive behaviours in the classroom. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on our students' educational journey and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pastoral Care:

    • Provide outstanding pastoral support to students, ensuring their well-being and personal development.
    • Develop and implement strategies to support students' social and emotional needs.
    • Address any pastoral concerns and collaborate with parents, teachers, and external agencies as necessary.
  • Behaviour Management:

    • Promote and maintain high standards of behaviour and attendance.
    • Support teachers in managing classroom behaviour effectively.
    • Implement behaviour management strategies to foster a positive learning environment.
  • Leadership and Development:

    • Act as a role model for students, setting high expectations for conduct and achievement.
    • Lead and support form tutors in their roles.
    • Organize and participate in year group activities, assemblies, and events.
  • Communication:

    • Maintain clear and consistent communication with students, parents, and staff.
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a cohesive approach to pastoral care.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Previous experience in a pastoral or behavioural support role within a secondary school setting is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the school community.
