As the firm continues to grow, they are looking to recruit a Conveyancing Assistant to join their busy and friendly conveyancing team. Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Conveyancing Assistant, you will be responsible for providing essential support to the conveyancing team in managing residential property transactions. Your key duties will include:

  • Assisting with the day-to-day management of conveyancing files, including sales, purchases, and remortgages.
  • Opening new files, performing client due diligence, and ensuring all compliance and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Liaising with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, and other parties involved in the transaction, providing regular updates and answering queries.
  • Drafting standard correspondence, preparing legal documents, and completing forms such as Land Registry applications and SDLT returns.
  • Conducting property searches (local authority, Land Registry, environmental, etc.) and reporting results to the conveyancer.
  • Handling post-completion processes, including registration of title with HM Land Registry and ensuring Stamp Duty payments are processed.
  • Keeping the conveyancing case management system updated with accurate data and ensuring all key milestones are tracked.
  • Providing exceptional client service through regular communication by phone and email.
  • Assisting with general administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and managing incoming and outgoing correspondence.

Key Skills and Experience Required

  • Previous experience in a conveyancing or property law environment is highly desirable.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively in a busy environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when preparing legal documents and updating files.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise confidently with clients and third parties.
  • Experience using case management systems and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • A proactive approach to work with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of the conveyancing process and understanding of key property law principles (preferred but not essential for junior applicants).
