Role: Paralegal (Housing Disrepair)

Reporting to: Head of Department

Overall Responsibility: Legal Director

Experience: Minimum 1 year

Type: Full Time Monday - Friday (working flexibly between 8am and 6.30pm.)

Our clientis a busy multi-disciplinary practice based in Manchester City Centre who specialise in financial mis-selling, housing disrepair, data breach, fraud and professional negligence. The firm is currently undergoing a period of substantial growth and we are seeking ambitious and confident paralegals to join our rapidly expanding legal team.

Full training will be provided; however, the ideal candidate will have a background in litigation and experience in running their own caseload. Our client offers considerable support and provide a great working environment as well as good prospects for future development within the business. Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handle a non-litigated caseload in a high-quality and commercially effective manner
  • Preparation and submission of claims to defendants, and ultimately the issuing of proceedings
  • Draft legal documentation and conduct legal research
  • Draft/Edit client correspondence
  • Interview clients and liaise with a variety of 3rd party professionals and stakeholders
  • Maintain high standards of information recording and client care
  • Undertake administrative tasks as required
  • Draft instructions to experts and third parties

Core Competencies Required:

  • Law Degree (LLB, BA, MSC)
  • LPC or CILEX qualification or working towards similar qualification
  • Knowledge of general litigation
  • Must have a good telephone manner, with confidence in delivery
  • Excellent understanding of Proclaim or other similar case management system
  • Be able to establish priorities and manage deadlines
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and relevant practice and business IT systems
  • Highly motivated and pro-active team player
  • Must be able to work in a flexible environment
