Road Freight Coordinator - Wythenshawe - Up to 29,000

Our client is looking for a Road Freight Coordinator to join their growing team in Wythenshawe, Manchester. The Road Freight Coordinator will required to deal with the process of goods departing into the EU via Road.

Job type: Permanent

Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 08:30am - 5:30pm

Salary: Up to 29,000 per annum (depending on experience)



Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing daily road freight operations to improve competitiveness and profitability.
  • Ensure efficient execution of import/export activities in accordance with company processes.
  • Invoice customers and clients correctly and on time, adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure proper application of duties/VAT upon invoicing and collect payments in line with SOPs.
  • Complete all required import/export documentation and activities accurately and within specified deadlines.
  • Ensure timely completion of operational tasks, including financial, legal, and invoicing transactions, in alignment with SOPs.
  • Prepare spot quotations, raise jobs, liaise with overseas offices and clients, and issue delivery orders.
  • Review and approve documentation for accuracy, ensuring invoices are authorized and paid on time.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers and internal departments, supporting audits, inspections, collections, and liaising with the sales team.
  • Support credit control efforts by following up on overdue payments from clients and suppliers.
  • Report internal leads to the line manager and sales team for follow-up.
  • Utilize operational systems consistently to track and manage tasks.
  • Oversee client and subcontractor relationships in accordance with SOPs.
  • Ensure all reports are completed and submitted by the designated deadlines.
  • Maintain regular communication with the sales team, providing updates on new sales leads and shipments.
  • Create and maintain SOPs for the department.
  • Communicate quotations to the line manager and sales team within two hours of receipt, ensuring all quotations are recorded on the system.
  • Ensure best value for money during procurement processes.
  • Work with the line manager to implement and improve workflow efficiencies.
  • Provide cover for holidays and sickness as required.
  • Be available for paid overtime during the week and on weekends as needed.


Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Road Freight Coordinator or in a similar role for a UK based forwarder (preferably with over one year of experience in road freight).
  • Uk-based with right to work (This role does not offer visa sponsorships)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively while working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in IT skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel) and CRM systems.
  • Demonstrated administrative experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
