ROLE OVERVIEW
As part of the Atec Operations Team, The Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer irresponsible for the maintenance, repair, and optimization of plant machinery and equipment, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. The role involves troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and responding to emergency repairs. This engineer will work closely with the production team to ensure that equipment operates at maximum efficiency while adhering to health and safety standards
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance and Repair:Perform planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on machinery, equipment, and systems, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Diagnose and repair faults in production machinery, minimizing downtime and ensuring that machines are returned to operation as quickly as possible.
Carry out corrective maintenance tasks to resolve equipment failures and breakdowns.
Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system faults using a range of diagnostic tools and techniques.
Identify root causes of equipment issues and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
Perform routine checks and tests to ensure that machines are operating efficiently and safely.
Work with electrical systems, including motors, sensors, PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), and control panels.
Perform mechanical maintenance, including repairs and replacements of bearings, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, and other components.
Ensure that all work complies with relevant safety and electrical regulations.
Collaborate with the production and engineering teams to improve equipment performance and production efficiency.
Identify and implement process improvements to reduce downtime and increase machine reliability. Support continuous improvement initiatives, offering suggestions for enhancing machine operation and maintenance procedures.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, including logs of repairs, preventive maintenance tasks, and any modifications made to equipment.
Complete work orders and maintenance reports in line with company procedures.
Report any recurring faults or issues to the Maintenance Manager and recommend solutions.
Ensure all work is performed in compliance with the companys health and safety policies.
Conduct risk assessments and adhere to safe working practices, ensuring that equipment and machinery are safe to operate.
Promote a safe working environment, identifying potential hazards and implementing corrective actions.
Work closely with production, quality control, and other departments to ensure that machinery and equipment are operating optimally.
Be flexible in providing assistance across different types of machinery and tasks as required by the business.
EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIRED:
The ideal candidate will have at least three years experience in a manufacturing maintenance role with a minimum ONC or time served apprenticeship in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering or time served Electrical, Mechanical, or Mult-Skilled Maintenance Engineer. A relevant qualification or certification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, such as NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent. Proven experience (3+ years) as a maintenance engineer in a manufacturing or production environment.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults, including experience with PLCs, motors, sensors, and control panels.
Strong understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
Key Competencies:
Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
Ability to work independently and under pressure, responding to breakdowns and emergencies efficiently. Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with teams.
Desirable Skills
You have or is working towards 18th edition
Familiarity with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for tracking maintenance activities.
Work Environment
Flexibility to work on shifts, weekends, or be on-call for emergency breakdowns.
Additional Information

Competitive Salary: Starting: Up to £35,000 (Depending on experience)
