Maintenance Engineer

Gap Technical is proud to represent a market-leading manufacturing business in their search for a Multi-Skilled Engineer Electrically Biased to join their team at a state-of-the-art facility near Manchester.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure efficient production line performance through proactive maintenance and rapid fault rectification.
  • Conduct and oversee accurate and efficient machine changeovers.
  • Provide on-the-job training for production team members to enhance operational competence.
  • Continuously improve machinery performance by analyzing downtime causes and implementing engineering solutions.
  • Facilitate effective shift handovers by coordinating with production technicians.
  • Maintain a safe and effective operation of all machinery, reporting failures to the Engineering Shift Manager.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to maximize production performance.
  • Support and recommend continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and performance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in line with ISO 9001:2000 standards.
  • Uphold high standards of safety and hygiene, ensuring compliance with HSE, EHO, and HMCE regulations.


What We're Looking For:

  • Strong ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults on FMCG equipment.
  • High level of discipline in maintaining hygiene standards and operating factory equipment safely.
  • Basic PC/IT skills to support manufacturing performance enhancements.
  • Recognized apprenticeship or relevant training in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience within the FMCG industry, preferably in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record of teamwork and leadership within a continuous improvement setting.
  • Familiarity with modern manufacturing techniques and best practices.
