Company Description:
Our client offers ethical personal banking products, including current accounts, credit cards, and savings accounts, dedicated to serving customers with integrity.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and represent Infrastructure Design within the Bank's Technical Design Authority (TDA), guiding both ongoing projects and long-term strategic planning.
  • Produce comprehensive infrastructure design documentation for implementation by third-party suppliers.
  • Provide precise estimates for project costs and overall IT expenses.
  • Develop infrastructure solution frameworks, ensuring optimal value from external suppliers.
  • Collaborate with project managers and suppliers to guarantee high-standard, compliant solutions across the project portfolio.
  • Facilitate smooth transitions of new technologies into production, minimising service interruptions.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point during major incidents, providing expertise and guidance to ensure effective incident management.
  • Identify and address root causes of issues with suppliers, promoting preventative actions to avoid recurrence.
  • Contribute to the identification and management of IT risk.
  • Act as a centre of expertise, promoting continuous service improvements and fostering a culture of excellence within the team.
  • Lead a small team of Infrastructure Designers and network engineers, providing oversight and assurance of third-party design roles and outputs.

Technical Capabilities:

  • Proficient in Mainframe technologies (CICS, COBOL, Objecstar, CA Datacom, VSAM).
  • Skilled in UNIX environments (AIX, LINUX, Solaris).
  • Familiar with Wintel/Storage/Desktop environments.
  • Experienced in Data Centre Hosting, Cloud Services, and integration.
  • Knowledgeable in mobile and BYOD, along with Middleware and Integration (IBM Message Broker, DataStage).

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:

  • Extensive experience in complex businesses utilising third-party managed services.
  • Proven track record in Governance, Architecture, Design, and Service Delivery within large networks.
  • Ability to drive significant change and improvements in infrastructure.
  • Experience in mentoring junior team members and serving as an escalation point.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with a proactive and collaborative approach.
  • Excellent analytical, conceptual thinking, and documentation skills.
  • Experience in team management is a plus.
