Lead Mechanical Engineer

As Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will provide technical excellence across our mechanical engineering discipline while delivering high-value solutions to our nuclear industry clients. We are looking for someone strong in stakeholder management and leadership and this position offers the opportunity to shape technical standards and contribute to projects in the nuclear sector.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and develop our mechanical engineering discipline, establishing technical standards and best practices
  • Provide expert technical solutions for complex nuclear engineering challenges
  • Oversee project delivery, ensuring technical excellence and regulatory compliance
  • Mentor junior engineers, pushing innovation and continuous improvement
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying opportunities to improve or add value
  • Drive quality assurance and risk management processes
  • Support business development through technical leadership and proposal development

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Chartered Engineer (or working towards Chartership)
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in working in nuclear
  • Deep understanding of nuclear industry standards and regulations
  • Leadership experience in technical governance
  • Communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making
  • Experience in mentoring and leading engineering teams

Desirable Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer institute membership
  • History of customer relations and business development
