DBR Group, acting as a Recruitment Agency, are recruiting for a Mechanical Engineering Assistant to work at our client who are a household name in the Industrial Industry.

Our client was founded in 2018 and was the first Company to produce Paper Straws in the UK. They are now part of the largest producer of all types of Drinking Straws in Europe.

This role is based on a Permanent position.

About the Job

Working for a very well-established company in Little Hulton, Manchester, you will be working as a Mechanical Engineering Assistant on a Permanent position.

You will have worked in a similar environment previously and have engineering knowledge/experience.

Role requirements

Complete engineering checks on machinery and keep lines running (reactive to breakdowns)

Looking for process improvements to reduce downtime

Assist the engineering Manager to build and Complete PPM and machine Maintenance logs, develop a continuous improvement culture

Assist and educate machine operators to understand their machines

You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of all machinery in the production area

Providing pro-active and reactive engineering cover to maintain and improve the performance of the plant

Completing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks

Troubleshooting, diagnosing and correcting equipment issues

Assist with root cause analysis to promote future reliability

Proactive involvement in Continuous Improvement initiatives

Uphold high standards in GMP, Food Safety and Health & Safety, to ensure a secure and compliant work environment

Install new equipment and machinery as needed, ensuring proper functioning and adherence to safety standards

Collaborate with other team members and departments to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize downtime

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspection reports, and equipment histories

Key Skills Required

Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering is essential

Experience gained working with tubular winders, slitters and wrapping machines

Start Times

Monday to Friday - 8hr late shift 2pm to 10 pm

About the pay (PAYE)

£37,000-£39,000 salary depending on experience
