Principal/Associate Mechanical Engineer

Location: Manchester Office

We are expanding our Mechanical Engineering team and are seeking a driven and experienced Principal/Associate Mechanical Engineer.

Role Overview: Reporting to the Director, you will lead the delivery and project management of Mechanical Services Design on assigned projects, providing M&E representation. Your responsibilities will include maintaining and improving the quality and efficiency of Mechanical Services design and post-contract implementation, while supporting and mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead multiple projects
  • Manage the production of scheme design drawings
  • Develop mechanical services strategies
  • Prepare M&E specifications, including environmental strategies
  • Assist in the preparation of elemental M&E cost plans
  • Contribute to Stage 2 and 3 MEP Reports
  • Manage post-contract stages, ensuring information flow aligns with the contract works programme
  • Monitor Mechanical Installation works against Mechanical Services Design
  • Assist Project QS in cost control
  • Establish project briefs, fees, and timescales, ensuring junior personnel are informed
  • Ensure mechanical engineering output meets quality criteria
  • Provide technical support to junior engineers and technicians
  • Prepare Mechanical Services Scheme Design proposals

About You:

  • Degree qualified, ideally working towards chartered status
  • Proven project experience
  • Strong project management, delivery, and quality record
  • Excellent people and client-facing skills
  • Capable of working independently to solve engineering and management challenges
  • Valid UK Driving Licence (preferable)
  • Willingness to travel for meetings and projects, including occasional overnight stays in the UK, Europe, or overseas
  • Experience with design software such as CAD, Revit, and Bluebeam
